Childhood trauma comes in many forms. Sometimes it’s physical, sometimes it’s verbal, and sometimes it’s from witnessing something traumatic and/or violent. All of it manifests at one time or another in one way or another. And these victims can’t understand any of it. It’s the most basic form of PTSD, and I believe it contributes to more adult issues than we’ve known.

Children often suffer from abuses doled out by the people they should be able to trust the most – parents and other relatives, teachers, and/or clergy; their authority figures. It’s easy to be cognitively aware of what they’re feeling, but it’s impossible to understand what they’re feeling. [Say what?] I mean, we as adults can say, “Of course that child is mad/sad/lethargic/whatever – look what they went through!” and be somewhat helpful. But how a child feels it —
How many times have you asked your child, “Why did you do that?” only to be met with, “I don’t know.” The fact is, they really don’t know. We as adults find it hard to describe how we feel when we experience a strong emotion, and we’ve had years of experience expanding our vocabularies. Add to that the confusion of the experience itself, and a child’s brain goes kind of catatonic. This is where The Emotion Code/Body Code is so extraordinarily helpful.

By connecting to the subconscious of a victim of childhood trauma, we can help sort out the confusion and restore or create calm by releasing negative emotions that have become trapped. This allows the body to, well, calm down and reset. And the best part is the child (or adult) does not have to talk about or re-live the experience that created the trapped emotion!
